Monde Bala

Monde Bala is the Group Executive for Distribution at Eskom, where he leads key initiatives to improve grid reliability, tackle illegal connections, and manage demand reduction.

Under his direction, Eskom has implemented significant projects, including a pioneering battery energy storage system and renewable energy tariff programmes, which aim to enhance energy sustainability and resilience for Eskom’s clients.

Bala’s role focuses on advancing Eskom’s just energy transition and aligning its operations with South Africa’s climate goals, addressing both the operational challenges and long-term strategic shifts needed to stabilise and innovate within the country’s energy landscape
